Even though we worry about our children’s diet all year, we do so especially in summer. In summer children’s diet can change, as the heat usually affects their appetite. What’s more, we should remember that physical activity increases during holidays and their hourly routines may be impacted.
All children should learn to play on teams from a very young age, as it will help them learn different values like solidarity, friendship, respect, tolerance, joint effort… Values that they will assimilate little by little to become great people and that Imaginarium strives to convey.
We’re nearing a year and a half of life and your child is getting more and more independent. They start wanting to do things for themselves, such as getting dressed or eating, even if they don't yet have the skills to do so. They want to do things like mummy and daddy and they will imitate you as a way of learning. They will use more and more words but they are still not able to construct full sentences, although they can understand simple instructions.
Below are some suggestions for a few fun games that you can play with them. Remember that their attention span is very short and they will soon want to do something different. However, you only need to play for a short time each day to improve their attention span and ability to concentrate.
The stage of independence has arrived! If your child has not already done so, during this three month period they will most probably begin to take their first steps on their own. Their manual skills have also come on in leaps and bounds and they will love slotting objects together, stacking them up, knocking them down… and they'll even start to scribble on paper.
Their communication with you is more extensive and they make themselves increasingly understood, even if it's just by uttering the odd syllable. They don’t require as much attention as before and they can spend some time playing by themselves.
In this phase your child will be crawling or pulling themselves along with ease and will stand up by holding onto a piece of furniture. They might even start to walk by themselves or holding onto your hand. Their manual abilities are much more developed and they will use their hands and fingers with greater skill, taking objects out of and putting them into simple containers. Their intelligence is developing at lightning speed as they find hidden objects and point with their finger at everything that grabs their attention.
Although they can't talk yet, they know how to use different tones of voice, they understand a lot of what you say and they can understand simple instructions. They might be able to say mummy and daddy.
From the age of six months all their efforts go into moving around with increasing independence. They are not able to walk yet but they will learn to sit up on their own and will start to pull themselves along and even crawl to get to an object. The world is much bigger than baby has seen up to now and they want to explore it with endless curiosity. Curiosity is the foundation of intelligence. At this stage, your baby will surprise you every day with everything they can do, as they begin to solve small problems that they face in their daily life, and will begin to understand how things work. They will start having their first “conversations”, babbling and even beginning to make gestures to communicate with you.
Babies’ eyes are developed enough to see colour around four months old. That is why children start to show a great interest in objects, opening up a whole new world of exploration. Their hands are more precise and become their investigatory tools, as they learn to identify objects by handling them. They start to play more and more with their hands. Babies understand and differentiate objects by playing with their hands. They also start to last longer on their tummies. Keeping placing them this way to encourage them to roll over by themselves and start moving around. Seeing, touching, and feeling boosts the sensorimotor intelligence that is so important for them at this stage.
At this age games are aimed at stimulating their senses, helping them discover the world around them and showing them that mummy and daddy love them like crazy. You can invent infinite numbers of games to make your child laugh. We can suggest a few. Remember that baby’s attention span at this age is just a few seconds, so you will have to change the game several times.
How lucky are kids who are looked after by their grandparents! OK, it’s true that we usually turn to grandparents when the parents can’t be there, but we should also remember that ultimately both grandparents and grandchildren benefit, and they develop such a beautiful relationship… For children, grandparents become one of their best play mates, even when they are tired, and it’s well known how much grandparents love to spoil them.
